Helmet Incentive, Education, Awareness and Essentiality Campaign
In Rajasthan around 10,500 lives are lost every year due to road crashes out of which two-wheeler riders contributes to 35 per cent of the total deaths. One of the major reasons behind fatalities of two-wheeler drivers is not wearing standard head gear. There is a large group of people, particularly in sub-urban and rural areas where people either do not wear helmet or use sub-standard head gear which causes severe head injury leading to fatality in case of a road crash.
To address the issue, Rajasthan Sadak Suraksha Society took an initiative and launched Helmet Incentive, Education and Awareness Campaign project. Under this project the society has undergone an MoU with SteelBird, a helmet manufacturing company in India, for providing IS-4151 marked standard head gears on 50% rebate to persons undergoing road safety training being conducted by the society. The theme for the campaign is “SAR SALAMAT TO SAB SALAMAT, YUVA JAGRAT TO DESH JAGRAT”. The participants undergone training were titled as road safety ambassadors or “Sadak Suraksha Agradoot”.
Till September 2021 the society has successfully trained over 40,000 road safety ambassadors in different districts of Rajasthan including Jaipur, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur. With support of Transport Department Rajasthan and assistance of Bhilwara Saras Dairy, the Rajasthan Sadak Suraksha Society has set a record by distributing 15,000 branded ISI marked headgears to the stock farmers and milk producers of the area. The program was inaugurated on 09 Jul 2020 by Shri Ashok Gehlot, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan through video conferencing. The Hon’ble CM also presented honorarium to two stock farmers and gave the title of Sadak Suraksha Agradoot.

These survey reports prepared and analysed and based on the interventions several recommendations have been prepared to reduce number of crashes and fatalities on the selected stretches. These recommendations have been shared with concerned stakeholder departments to take appropriate actions for meeting the targets. Awareness has also been created by means of education, enforcement, and health drives at the pre identified zones.
